Inside the story

Mama’s Milkies is a beautifully illustrated story written about a full term breastfeeding child.

Follow the little toddler through the day as they wake and play, read, sing and finally drift off to sleep. All the while knowing that mommy still has “Milkies” when they feel like nursing.

The illustrator has painted a gender neutral child so that both boys and girls can relate to the child in the pictures.

Here is a sneak peak of 2 nonconsecutive illustrations, along with their text, from the book. Enjoy!

“With my eyes now open,
I reach up to find
Mama’s soft, warm breast.
I have milkies on my mind.”

And when I need a little love I snuggle up to find Mama still has milkies for me She never seems to mind.

“And when I’d like a little love
I snuggle up to find
Mama still has milkies for me
She never seems to mind.”

  1. I think this is great. So many people frown upon breastfeeding after 1 yr old. I dont see anything wrong. Its so healthy and not to mention easier when they are sick, when they get sick. Im still breastfeeding at night for my almost 3 yr old daughter and im not ashamed!

  2. I’m excited to order this book to read to my sons. I currently breastfeed both, ages 3 years 8 months and 4 months. “Mama Milkie” is what my oldest calls my milk.

  3. I love the pictures and the rhyming scheme is well written. I love reading this book while I nurse my little one to bed. I just wish it was a bilingual book. I’d like it to be universal since in my household were bilingual.
